Sterilisation
Have you ever wondered what happens after you
have left the surgery?
Everything that was involved in your treatment is changed ready for the next patient and all the instruments used are sterilised Strict infection control standards are always adhered to by all our members of staff, and we are committed to meeting and exceeding the guidelines set by the Department of Health.
At Molloy Dental Practice we have the following infection control protocols:
- Dedicated sterilisation area - By keeping our sterilisation areas away from the clinical area, we minimize the risk of any cross contamination. Our dedicated sterilisation area is divided into specific zones to further reduce this risk
- Vacuum autoclaves (class B) - The most effective system available to date, these machines ensure all dental equipment and instruments are sterile and after every cycle we have a print out to verify the each batch of instrument is traceable.
- Disposable items - Wherever possible, disposable, one-time items are utilised this includes the suction tubing all protective bibs and mouthwash cups etc. All clinical surfaces are covered by a disposable protective sheet in between each patient. Each clinical team member wears disposable gloves and mask for each patient. These are changed regularly throughout your treatment, and at the end of your appointment.
- Distilled Water - All water in the dental units has been carefully treated. This ensures all bacteria contained within the water is eliminated and safe for our patients.
