Veneers are predominately used to either mask over imperfections of your tooth surface or to alter the size and shape of your teeth.

There are three tooth veneers procedures available that correct discoloration or shape of the teeth. While each work effectively, there are advantages and disadvantages to each procedure dependent upon your objectives and commitment to the processes. The type of procedures suitable will be discussed with you and we will recommend the most appropriate tooth veneers procedure for you.

Composite Veneer Procedure:

Composite (direct) veneers are usually performed in a single visit with Molloy Dental Practice. The procedure is an application of a bond and enamel directly to the tooth's surface. There is often no need to numb the area for this type of restoration.

Porcelain Veneer Procedure:

Porcelain (indirect) veneers are a very thin porcelain material. Usually porcelain veneers require two visits, where at the first appointment a small portion of the front surface of your tooth is removed and impressions then taken which gives the information for a dental laboratory to create the final tooth restoration. At the second appointment the veneers are permanently fitted to your teeth.

Lumineer Porcelain Veneer Procedure:

Made of Cerinate porcelain, Lumineers are a new type of porcelain veneers. They are contact lens-thin, roughly .2 mm thick. Little to no tooth reduction in most cases is necessary with this type of veneer and anesthetics or numbing shots are not needed these can only be used in a small selection of cases again we will discuss with you whether you are suitable or not.
